Dr. Samuel J. Mumpower DMD

Dr. Mumpower was born in Knoxville, TN, and grew up in Powder Springs, GA. He is married to Anna Kate and they have two children, Farrin and Samuel.  Farrin works in Dallas, Texas, and Samuel is attending the University of Tennessee/Knoxville.  Dr. Mumpower attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC, where he obtained an A.S. and B.S. degree in Pre-Dental in 1994 Summa Cum Laude and proceeded into Dentistry, where he earned a D.M.D. degree at the Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry in 2000.  Dr. Mumpower played and coached football at Lees-McRae College.  After college, he coached football and baseball at Wheeler High School in Marietta, GA.  He served as the defensive coordinator at Unity Christian School for 7 years (State Championship in 2020.)

After graduation, he entered a General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). After his GPR, he was offered a position on faculty at MCG in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation. During that time, he also served as a faculty member in the Endodontic Department at the dental school in Augusta, Georgia. He completed his two years of endodontic specialty training at the Medical College of Georgia in June 2004.

Dr. Mumpower has been involved with dental research and publications. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association , the Floyd County Dental Society, and the Rome Dental Study Club.  Dr. Mumpower and Dr. Smith both are involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Floyd County.  Dr. Mumpower has been a volunteer coach for youth programs in Rome.   Dr. Mumpower and his family are members of Redemption Church in Rome, GA, where he serves on the board of directors.  In this spare time, he enjoys hunting, snow skiing, and University of Tennessee athletics.
